Wayne Dyer is een Amerikaanse schrijver en motivational speaker. Ik heb al vele uren inzichtelijke filmpjes van hem gekeken op Youtube. Een van de verhalen die me altijd is bij gebleven is de volgende:

Wayne was aan het begin van carrière eens uitgenodigd bij een televisie show. Hij had een krap schema en moest vanuit het vliegveld gelijk door naar de TV studio om op tijd te komen. Vanaf het vliegtuig nam hij een taxi. Je raadt het misschien al, file! In eerste instantie begon hij gelijk te stressen. Maar op den duur realiseerde hij zich dat hij aan het stressen was, terwijl dit een situatie was waar hij, ten eerste niets aan kon doen. Ten tweede krijg je het moment nooit meer terug en kun je beter het beste maken van elke moment. Nog dikwijls als ik bij de kassa me sta te ergeren aan de lange rij denk ik: ' Ik kan ook gewoon genieten van dit moment.'

Toevallig stuitte ik op het onderstaande youtube filmpje. Gemaakt door Arjan Vergeer en David de Kock n.a.v het door hen geschreven boek '365 dagen succesvol"

Waarvan hebben mensen spijt
Het Filmpje gaat over een onderzoek dat is gedaan naar spijt. Spijt die mensen hebben als ze terug kijken op hun leven als ze weten dat het einde nadert. Denk hierbij aan leven voor een ander, geen tijd vrijmaken voor familie en vrienden en geen tijd maken voor jezelf.

Spijt en jalousie als tools om je passie te vinden
Misschien weet je al lang wat je met je leven wilt. Maar voor veel mensen is het soms best lastig om je passie te vinden. Waar wordt je nou echt gelukkig van? Spijt en jalousie kunnen een tool voor je zijn om je passie te vinden. Vergeer en De Kock noemen dit de negatieve route.

Grappig, ik herken dit wel! Zelf ben ik het liefst zo positief mogelijk. Maar soms maak ik een stress-lijst. Op deze stress-lijst schrijf ik alle situaties nu energie van mij vreten, die ik graag zou veranderen, dingen waar ik tegen op zie of mensen die mij stress geven. Voordat ik weer met positieve doelen bezig kan moet ik eerst zorgen dat de stress lijst zo kort mogelijk wordt. Dit kan betekenen van sommige mensen wat meer afstand nemen, toegeven dat je aan sommige situaties niets kunt doen, actie ondernemen als je aan situaties wel wat kan doen of niet meer uitstellen (denk aan de boekhouding, dat ene gesprek, solliciteren, spullen weggooien)

Dutch Design Week 2013

NL In-your-face-goud, maar ook subtiel. Dat is het prachtige stoeltje van Tjep. "The resulting object looks as if it won’t withstand the weight of the person it's supporting, yet the bronze casting provides the necessary strength for it to serve as a functional" aldus Tjepkema.

Of hij lekker zit weet ik niet maar een eye-catcher voor je interieur is het zeker.

Dutch Design Week 2013/Strijp Area: De eerste impressie / First impression

NL NL Mijn favoriete onderdeel van de DDW is de STRIJP AREA. Dit jaar had ik geen tijd om het hele gebied door te lopen. Maar ik heb zeker een leuke impressie opgedaan aan nieuwe ontwerpen. Hieronder mijn eerste impressie van het Klokgebouw en omgeving.

ENG My favorite part of the DDW is the STRIJP AREA. This year I didn't have time to walk around the whole area. But I saw great new designs. Here is an impression of the "Klokgebouw" and the area around it.

All IKEA: Cool office

Its probably a kind of weird, but I like to buy pencils, markers, note blocks and all of that. Of course you need a place to store all of that and do your work. So the office is a perfect place for me! Looking at the picture above its probably no surprise..... i like the color black. Here are a few products I like for a cool looking office.

1 - HEKTAR Lamp € 69.95 / st. 47 cm.
IKEA had done a real good job with this lamp. This industrial looking lamp would make lots of rooms look great.

2 - OLUNDA Picture in frame  € 14.95 / st. 30x30cm
I always like goofy looking photo's or drawings in neat black frames. I would probably change the image of the picture with something found on Pinterest, or a printed word or letters.

3 - NILS Chair black € 99.- / st.
A classy but modern looking chair. Probably quite comfortable.

Cute Summer Flower Cupcake

Don't you love these cute summer flower cupcakes? 

This is how you make them. The quick and easy way is to melt the butter in the microwave and then mix it with the sugar. Add the flower and the baking powder ( or use self rising flower) then the eggs and the salt.Mix all and put in the cupcake maker for 7 to 10 minutes.

If you don't have a cupcake maker preheat the oven on 200 degrees and put them in for 7 - 10 minutes. I used fondant to decorate them. I used a little cup to make the round shapes and used a fondant cutter for the flowers. I just made a little ball on top to finish the flowers.

Ingredients

When using a cupcake maker, the cupcakes won't get really brown.

Healthy wheatgrass - grow it yourself

Wheatgrass

They say its really healthy...wheatgrass. So i thought I'd give it a try. You can take it as a powder, a pill or the cow way... just eating grass. 

Benefits

I'm not a nutritionist buts here are my findings on the benefits of wheatgrass. Its detoxifying. Lowers blood pressure. It's cleansing. It contains lots of vitamins and minerals. It's an energy booster. And lots more.

How to grow it

Growing wheatgrass is very easy. You can bur the seeds in your local bio-shop. I'm Dutch so they are called 'tarwegraszaad'. 

You just have to take a plastic tray and put some cotton pads in it. Add some water to it. The first day you can add a lot of water. When you tilt the tray it should flow a little. Put the seeds in it. It will take around seven or eight days to grow.  

How to use it

When its fully grown you can juice it or mix it in a smoothie.

Summer Smoothie

I just got into making smoothies. To be honest, at first I didn't really like them. If you make one with vegetables they are hard to drink. Recently I thought I give it a try again. I looked up some recipes and they turned out great. I make them for breakfast quite a lot now. Here is the recipe of the one above:

Ingredients:

• Frozen summer fruit
• 1/2 banana
• Yogurt or almond milk

Mix all the above ingredients in a blender. Easy as that.

Pinteresting: DIY plates

I found this cool idea on Pinterest for kids. The idea is to draw a landscape or something else on the plate and they can colour it in with their food. 

Inspiration from Pinterest.

I bought this 'glass and porcelain pen' from Panduro at a local craft shop. It says: "Clean the surface carefully. Shake the pen. Allow the design to dry for 4 hours. Harden in an oven for 90 min at 160° C. Place in a cold oven and begin timing once the required temperature is reached. Leave to cool in the oven with the door open."

I made two designs on plain white plates.

It would be fun to 'decorate' them with a salad. Or you can use figures you use for cookies to make fun shapes out of bread or pancakes.

Organising your workspace

Some fun tips for organising your workspace.

An original way to display your pencils on your desk.

Do you have to take your pencils with you? Make an elastic band around your notebook or planner.

Don't want your magazines lying around? Use a close hanger to hang them on a wall or a cabinet. 

Never know which cable is which. Use a bread clip as a cord labeler. 

I love re-using things. Take cans and glue or screw them onto a board. Voila, the perfect place to store pencils.

Changing the house

We might be changing up the house a little bit. Here are some impressions what the plans are.

Above you see an overall view. There are three main area's: The dining area, the living area and a music area.

First, the dining area. Right now we have quite big chairs. Using these IKEA chairs will be way more calm in the scenery. A nice lamp above the table will be great lighting for in the evenings. Also note the wooden barn door in the back. This will give a great option to separate two rooms when needed. 

The living room is kept clean and simple. I always love a big peace of artwork on the wall. A footstool is a great multifunctional object. You can use is as a footstool, table or as extra seating space. I still have to find a way to add the television in the room without it being so present. 

This little corner is a great place for a record player. On the wall above the record player shelfs can be added to display some records or pictures. A room isn't finished without some artwork, mirrors od pictures on the wall. When you only have furniture on the floor your eye will be drawn downwards. Make sure to put some elements on the wall or vertical elements like curtains in your room to make a balance.

I love this interior design. I love the fact that this interior combines 2D and 3D effects. It has a really surreal feeling to it.

The lamp is incredibly made. It really adds to the 2D feeling dimensions.
